Soccer Recap: Norland Comes Up Short

After flying high against International Studies last Thursday, Norland came back down to earth. The Norland Vikings came up short against the American Patriots on Tuesday, falling 10-2. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Patriots are ranked 248th).

Juan Pineda and Joramy Duval scored both of Norland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Norland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for American, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4-2 record this season.

Norland has already played their next match, a 2-2 draw against Booker T. Washington on the 16th. As for American, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Varela at 3:30 p.m. on January 28th. Varela's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
