Recap: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. Wiregrass Ranch Bulls
If the Seffner Christian Crusaders were feeling good off their 86-49 takedown of the Bayshore Christian Faith Warriors on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Seffner Christian took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wiregrass Ranch. While losing is never fun, Seffner Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Wiregrass Ranch is ranked 34th).
Wiregrass Ranch was led to victory by Donovan Gaines and KJ Smith. Gaines dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Smith scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Smith set a new season high mark in blocks with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Linville, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Seffner Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Wiregrass Ranch, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Seffner Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Altamonte Christian at 1:15 p.m. on January 6th. Altamonte Christian is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Leto at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Leto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday.
