Basketball Recap: Heathwood Hall Episcopal Makes It 11 in a Row on the Road

Heathwood Hall Episcopal waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hammond Skyhawks 64-11. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Skyhawks are ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heathwood Hall Episcopal was led to victory by Lauren Jacobs and SaBreya Monsanto. Jacobs went 11 of 18 on her way to 27 points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds, while Monsanto dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Jacobs' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya Weeks, who posted five points and nine rebounds.

Heathwood Hall Episcopal's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Hammond, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Heathwood Hall Episcopal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-39 win against Ben Lippen on the 24th. As for Hammond, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-24 loss against Northside Christian Academy on the 24th.
