Basketball Recap: Tallassee Comes Up Short

After flying high against LAMP last Tuesday, Tallassee came back down to earth. The Tallassee Tigers were outmatched by the Montgomery Catholic Knights and fell 62-35. The Tigers have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Montgomery Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hannah Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Smith has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Heaven Bailey, who posted 14 points along with eight steals and seven assists.

Tallassee now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Montgomery Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Tallassee Tigers take on the Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Montgomery Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against LAMP at 6:00 p.m. Montgomery Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
