Dan River has gone 9-1 against Gretna recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Dan River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Dan River lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bassett, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 22-4 margin over the Bengals on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Cara Barrett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenley Cundiff, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anna Campbell Stoler, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Dan River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Gretna came up short against Chatham on Wednesday and fell 6-2.
Sophia Brooks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Gretna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Dan River, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
Gretna's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dan River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. It's a different story for Gretna, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Dan River's hitters?
Dan River beat Gretna 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
