Baseball Recap: Frontier Triumphs

Frontier won the last time they faced Hamburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 10-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Ethan Hediger made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Frontier's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Hediger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Hudson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Frontier is undefeated when Hudson posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Matthew Jones also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Frontier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Frontier's record is now 7-5. As for Hamburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4-1.

Coming up, Frontier will be playing at home against Iroquois at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Redhawks will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hamburg, they will face off against Orchard Park at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Quakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.55 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
