Baseball Preview: Lake County Falcons vs. Gibson County Pioneers
Lake County hasn't had much luck against Gibson County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Falcons will head out to challenge the Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. Lake County has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Lake County faced off against Jackson Christian on Monday. The Falcons lost 12-2 to the Eagles. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Gibson County waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Tigers.
Noah Dabbs made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Gibson County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 6-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Dabbs was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lake County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-19-1.
