Football Recap: Westwood's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Westwood challenged Teague on Friday. The Panthers lost 42-20 to the Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since November 22, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Teague to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garrett Winkler, who threw for 320 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per attempt. Those 320 passing yards gave Winkler a new career-high. Bryce Bates was Winkler's top target, picking up 126 receiving yards and three TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Westwood fell to 7-1. As for Teague, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will host Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Teague, they will square off against Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
