Preview: Mason Comets vs. Milford Eagles
The Mason Comets will square off against the Milford Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mason will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Milford is ranked ninth).
Mason owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They strolled past Lebanon with points to spare, taking the game 17-0. Mason didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Meanwhile, Milford put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Fairfield as Milford made off with a 41-15 win. Considering Milford has won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Milford can attribute much of their success to Ashton Warther, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and Nathan Webster, who rushed for 215 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Warther was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
Mason now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Milford, their win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0.
