It was fun while it lasted, but Koyuk Malimiut's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Shishmaref Northern Lights and fell 85-55. The match marked the Malemutes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leading Shishmaref to victory were Corben Nayokpuk and Ivan Davis-Nayokpuk. Nayokpuk went 8-for-13 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points, while Davis-Nayokpuk dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists. Thanks to that strong game, Nayokpuk now owns an excellent 42.5% three-point shooting accuracy. Fred Olanna was another key player, shooting 58% from the field en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Koyuk Malimiut fell to 4-1. As for Shishmaref, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Koyuk Malimiut didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-47 defeat against Shishmaref on the 22nd. As for Shishmaref, they have also already played their next matchup, a 75-70 victory against Gambell on the 21st.
