Berlin Brothersvalley has won 14 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Ferndale has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Mountaineers will welcome the Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Berlin Brothersvalley got the win against North Star by a conclusive 17-2. The Mountaineers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Berlin Brothersvalley let Haylee Speicher and Bena Barna run wild. Speicher went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Barna went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Speicher has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elsie Barna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Berlin Brothersvalley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Star only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Ferndale made sure to put some runs up on the board against United on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 18-3 win.
Ferndale got a massive performance out of Abigail Barley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Barley has hit this season. Delaney McKendree was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Ferndale is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Berlin Brothersvalley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Ferndale struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berlin Brothersvalley took their victory against Ferndale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
