Recap: Effingham Flaming Hearts vs. Mt. Zion Braves
If The Effingham Flaming Hearts were feeling good off their 61-34 takedown of the Centralia Orphans last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Effingham received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 21-2 to Mt. Zion. Having soared to a lofty 61 points in the game before, Effingham couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mt. Zion got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makobi Adams out in front who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Karson Bollhorst also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Mt. Zion, their win was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
Effingham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mt. Zion will head out on the road to face off against Breese Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Breese Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
