Sweet Springs/Malta Bend might have drawn first blood against Wellington-Napoleon last Friday, but it was Wellington-Napoleon who got the last laugh. It was a hard-fought contest, but Sweet Springs/Malta Bend had to settle for a 26-40 defeat against Wellington-Napoleon. A silver lining for Sweet Springs/Malta Bend was the play of junior Hunter Sims, who threw 3 TDs and picked up 65 yards on the ground. Sims has now scored at least one touchdown in the past five games.
Meanwhile, Salisbury's five-game streak of losses has finally come to an end. They secured a 34-30 W over Schuyler County. It took five tries, but Salisbury can finally say that they have a victory on the road.
Salisbury's win lifted them to 2-7 while Sweet Springs/Malta Bend's loss dropped them down to 4-5. We'll find out if Salisbury can add another positive mark to their record or if Sweet Springs/Malta Bend can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Salisbury's step.
