Basketball Recap: Stevens Takes a Loss

Stevens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss. They were dealt a 60-11 defeat at the hands of the O'Connor Panthers. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-2.

Maniah Allen was Stevens' leading scorer, having posted three points. Victoria Vega held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

O'Connor was led to victory by Jules Roberts and Casey Chavez. Roberts posted 18 points along with seven steals and six boards, while Chavez earned seven points in addition to nine steals, eight assists, and eight rebounds. Chavez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Benavides, who put up seven points and five steals.

Stevens' loss dropped their record down to 1-29. As for O'Connor, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season.

Stevens is taking a road trip to face off against Marshall at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for O'Connor, they will be playing at home against Taft at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (O'Connor has three straight wins, Taft has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
