Basketball Game Preview: Ripley Tigers vs. Walnut Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ripley Tigers take on the Walnut Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday... Ripley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Ripley lost 53-32 to Shannon on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Walnut hadn't done well against Kossuth recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Walnut's way against Kossuth as Walnut made off with a 67-41 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Walnut's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.6 points. As for Ripley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Ripley was taken down by Walnut 62-31 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Ripley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
