Basketball Recap: Nueces Canyon's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Nueces Canyon extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Schreiner Meredith. The Nueces Canyon Panthers put the hurt on the Leakey Eagles with a sharp 48-22 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Meredith, who went 10 of 15 on her way to 22 points and three steals. She has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played.

Idrianna DeLeon was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8 rebounds per game.

Nueces Canyon's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35.7% in those games and 25.4% outside of them. As for Leakey, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Nueces Canyon will look to defend their home court on Friday against D'Hanis at 7:30 p.m. D'Hanis will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Nueces Canyon surely won't give up without a fight. Leakey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
