Volleyball Recap: Ventura Cougars vs. Rio Mesa Spartans

Ventura suffered their biggest loss since March 20th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Rio Mesa Spartans. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Ventura took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-22.

Max Mechtenberg paced Ventura's offense, picking up seven kills. Mechtenberg got some help from Theodore Souther-Pasquarella and his 20 assists. Louie Nacu controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Ventura's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Rio Mesa, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.
