Volleyball Recap: Woodcreek Timberwolves vs. Vista del Lago Eagles
After flying high against Bella Vista last Wednesday, Woodcreek came back down to earth. The Woodcreek Timberwolves fell just short of the Vista del Lago Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
Woodcreek started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 16-14.
Ellie Yeates and Jayden Morales certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Yeates had 34 digs, while Morales had 17 digs and two aces. Yeates is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Reddell, who had six digs and 22 assists.
Vista del Lago can attribute much of their success to Madi Hyer, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hyer has posted since back in August.
Woodcreek's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Vista del Lago, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-7.
Woodcreek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Ponderosa on the 2nd. Vista del Lago has also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Bella Vista on the 30th.
