Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tyra Sekutera and Brittany Riley Lead Pleasanton to Victory

There's no place like home for Pleasanton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They were the clear victor by a 57-34 margin over the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs on Thursday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Pleasanton was led to victory by Brittany Riley and Tyra Sekutera. Riley went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points along with six assists and three steals, while Sekutera went 7 for 15 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Riley now owns an excellent 41.7% three-point shooting accuracy. Claire Ahrens also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Pleasanton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaycelyn Hoos, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Katelynn Reiter, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Pleasanton's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasanton will square off against Blue Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they will challenge Twin Loup at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
