Soccer Game Preview: Deer Valley vs. Pittsburg

Deer Valley hasn't had much luck against Pittsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Deer Valley Wolverines will be playing at home against the Pittsburg Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Deer Valley fell victim to Liberty and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 846th, while the Lions are ranked 198th).

Meanwhile, Pittsburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Patriots a 3-0 shutout. Considering the Pirates have won three matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pittsburg's win bumped their record up to 4-2-3. As for Deer Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
