Volleyball Recap: Ellsworth Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Washington Academy

Ellsworth faced Washington Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Raiders. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-7, 25-9.

Sophie Beal paced Ellsworth's offense, picking up six kills. Beal got some help from Sophie Harmon and her eight assists. Beal was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Washington Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Coming up, Ellsworth will head out to challenge Orono at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washington Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Cape Elizabeth on the 27th.
