Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Wins High-Profile Matchup Against St. Mary Academy-Bay View + How To Watch

Cumberland faced St. Mary Academy-Bay View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Clippers put the hurt on the Bengals with a sharp 3-0 win. The Clippers haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Cumberland never let St. Mary Academy-Bay View on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-21.

Leading Cumberland to victory were Mia Hamel and Lyla Parmentier. Hamel had 13 digs and five aces, while Parmentier had five digs, three aces, and one block. Parmentier is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season. Aili Marshall also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Cumberland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are 11-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Cumberland's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for St. Mary Academy-Bay View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.
