Recap: Cooper Bulldogs vs. Boles Hornets
The Cooper Bulldogs had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 53-0 victory over Boles at home. Considering Cooper has won six matches by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cooper to victory, but perhaps none more so than Markell Smith, who rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns. Smith's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Adryean Mapps was another key contributor, gaining 175 total yards and three touchdowns.
Cooper's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Collinsville and 8-2 Wolfe City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.6% over those games). As for Boles, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Cooper will face off against Ore City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
