Basketball Recap: Struthers Comes Up Short

Struthers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the McKinley Red Dragons. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

McKinley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avon Fryer, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. True Carey-Hardin was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Struthers' loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for McKinley, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Struthers is taking a road trip to face off against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Struthers is facing Lakeview at the right time seeing as Lakeview is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for McKinley, they will host South Range at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Range will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something McKinley surely won't give up without a fight.
