Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Gaels vs. Algonquin Regional Titans

The Clinton Gaels will take on the Algonquin Regional Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clinton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Algonquin Regional likes a good challenge.

Clinton is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Quabbin Regional: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Clinton blew Quabbin Regional out of the water with an 87-30 final score. Given the Gaels' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Panthers are ranked 82nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

While Algonquin Regional didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 62-50 win over Nashoba Regional on Monday.

Clinton pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Algonquin Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
