Soccer Game Preview: Dalton vs. Cartersville

The Dalton Catamounts will head out on the road to face off against the Cartersville Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Dalton had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Woodland on Friday. Dalton blew past Woodland 6-2. Given the Catamounts' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Wildcats are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cartersville). They never let Cass get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won seven in a row.

Cartersville hit Cass with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kiley McMichael (2), Scout Hullander (2), and Annabelle Williams.

The win was the third in a row for Dalton, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three matchups. As for Cartersville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Dalton took their win against Cartersville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0. Does Dalton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cartersville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
