Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask UME Preparatory Academy). They never let the Village Tech Viper Squid get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the EAGLES as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Bethany Gonzales was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gonzales was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Madison Holland was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Jenevive Fleming was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
UME Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
UME Preparatory Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4-1.
Looking ahead, UME Preparatory Academy will head out to square off against Molina at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Molina is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season. Village Tech will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Life Oak Cliff at 5:30 p.m. on March 21st.
