Basketball Recap: Holmes Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Camden County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Holmes, they should've done a better job of containing Chloe Chappell. The Holmes Aces enjoyed a cozy 47-28 victory over the Camden County Bruins on Tuesday thanks to Chappell, who went 8-for-13 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Holmes' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Janyrah Basnight, who posted six points and four steals. She has become a key player for Holmes: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-11 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Camden County still got an impressive performance from Aaliyah Anderson, who scored 13 points.

The win made it two in a row for Holmes and bumps their season record up to 8-12. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-19 Camden County and 8-12 Hertford County. As for Camden County, their defeat was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19.

Holmes has already played their next match, a 48-38 loss against Hertford County on the 12th. As for Camden County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 39-10 victory against Manteo on the 13th.
