Recap: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Pioneer Valley Panthers
The Morro Bay Pirates lost against the Pioneer Valley Panthers back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Morro Bay fell 57-45 to Pioneer Valley. Morro Bay has not had much luck with Pioneer Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Morro Bay's loss came despite strong showings from Justin Campbell and Jake Falat. Campbell scored 17 points, while Falat dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds. Falat scored a full 28.9% of Morro Bay's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sergio Mendoza was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 steals.
Pioneer Valley had a senior duo take command as Elias Giddings scored 18 points and Inderveer Toor scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was Toor's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Thomas Zepeda, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Morro Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Pioneer Valley, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Morro Bay's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cabrillo at 10:00 a.m. on December 1st. Pioneer Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face River City at 5:30 p.m. on December 1st. River City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
