Baseball Game Preview: Lake Shore Eagles vs. Griffith Institute Griffins

For the second straight game, Lake Shore will face off against Griffith Institute. The Eagles will host the Griffins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Griffith Institute hit Lake Shore with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 9-8. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Griffins recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Shane Lagattuta was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, James Marszalek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Keegan Green was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win got Griffith Institute back to even at 5-5. As for Lake Shore, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
