Basketball Recap: Dobson Comes Up Short

Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Mesa Jackrabbits, falling 61-27. The Mustangs were down 47-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Dobson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabby Burchfield, who posted two points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Burchfield a new career-high in rebounds.

It was another big night for Taylor Morris, who went 10 for 15 on her way to 25 points and seven boards for Mesa. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Straub, who had eight points and three steals.

Dobson's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Mesa, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Dobson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-34 defeat against Red Mountain on the 21st. Mesa has also already played their next contest, a 62-32 win against Westwood on the 20th.
