Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Bath's Winning Streak

Bath dropped their record down to 10-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Webberville Spartans, falling 12-6. The Fighting Bees were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

As for Webberville, the win got them back to even at 12-12-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30th (when they won 8-2).

For Webberville's part, KALEB NORTON made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. NORTON also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Webberville is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11-1 otherwise. NORTON was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, LANDON TAYLOR was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Webberville is undefeated when TAYLOR posts two or more runs, but 9-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was JOSHUA BOSCHMA, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Bath and Webberville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Fighting Bees will square off against Perry at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Webberville, they will face off against Potterville at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
