Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Currituck County

Currituck County barely beat Holmes the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Aces a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kaydence Hassell made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hassell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Currituck County got a big performance out of Morgan Eisel, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Eisel's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kendra Daniels, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Currituck County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Currituck County and bumps their season record up to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Holmes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Currituck County will face off against Deep Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Holmes, they will square off against First Flight at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
