Basketball Recap: Jernigan Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lugoff-Elgin over Blythewood

Lugoff-Elgin lost against Blythewood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The matchup between the Lugoff-Elgin Demons and the Blythewood Bengals didn't end well, with the Lugoff-Elgin Demons falling 50-34. The contest marked the Demons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lugoff-Elgin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jernigan Williams, who posted seven points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Murphy, who earned five points and four steals.

Tyler Stephens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Blythewood, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Stephens also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. TJ Lewis was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Lugoff-Elgin has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Blythewood, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Lugoff-Elgin will host Ridge View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge View will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lugoff-Elgin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blythewood, they will venture away from home to challenge West Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Blythewood is facing West Florence at the right time seeing as West Florence is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
