Volleyball Recap: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Springfield Senators
Mt. Pulaski was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Senators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
While Mt. Pulaski ultimately came up short, they really made Springfield work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 26-24.
Springfield can attribute much of their success to Madison Clark, who had four digs and 16 assists. Clark is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season.
Mt. Pulaski's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Springfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-13.
Mt. Pulaski will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Sacred Heart-Griffin at 9:00 a.m. As for Springfield, they will head out to challenge Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
