Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Cowan Blackhawks + How To Watch

The Eastern Comets will take on the Cowan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cowan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Eastern turned things around against Tipton on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over the Blue Devils. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Among those leading the charge was Elle Winger, who went 7-for-12 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lainey Newlin, who posted six points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Cowan had to suffer through a 45-18 loss at the hands of Tri. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Titans are ranked 174th).

Despite the defeat, Cowan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Savannah Hall put up four points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Hall has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Cowan has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Eastern, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Eastern has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Cowan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
