Volleyball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains vs. Liberty-Benton Eagles
Hopewell-Loudon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Liberty-Benton Eagles. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
While Hopewell-Loudon ultimately came up short, they really made Liberty-Benton work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-10, 25-18.
Araceli Velasquez paced Hopewell-Loudon's offense, picking up five kills. Velasquez got some help from Alexis Fedele and her five assists. Emery Siebenaller controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Hopewell-Loudon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Liberty-Benton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Looking ahead, Hopewell-Loudon will venture away from home to challenge Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty-Benton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Defiance at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
