Basketball Game Preview: Washington County Tigers vs. Frankfort Wildcats

Washington County is 2-8 against Frankfort since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Washington County Tigers take on the Frankfort Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Washington County is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Thursday. They took a 68-52 bruising from Onaga.

Despite the defeat, Washington County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Chayse Gross dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gross has scored all season. Michael Peterson was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Washington County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Onaga only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Frankfort earned a 54-46 victory over Blue Valley on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Washington County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Washington County might still be hurting after the 61-35 defeat they got from Frankfort when the teams last played last Saturday. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Washington County was down 41-15.
