Football Recap: Orestimba Takes a Loss

After flying high against Gustine last Friday, Orestimba came back down to earth. The Warriors came up short against the Grace Davis Spartans on Friday, falling 34-14. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Despite the loss, Orestimba still got an impressive performance from Michael Maier, who rushed for 87 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Jose Cuevas helped out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grace Davis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Zaragoza, who threw for 159 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those four passing touchdowns gave Zaragoza a new career-high. Izmael Sanchez helped Zaragoza out on the ground, rushing for 132 yards on only nine carries.

Orestimba's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Grace Davis, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orestimba will head out to challenge Le Grand at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grace Davis, they will venture away from home to face off against Stagg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
