Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Calumet Christian

Calumet Christian came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points) and they left with even more momentum. They ended the year with a bang, routing the Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks 62-40. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Calumet Christian to victory were Makenna Landkrohn and Anna Prim. Landkrohn went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points along with six assists and six boards, while Prim almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Prim's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Prim, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Calumet Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Mid-Missouri HomeSchool lost, don't look at Taylor Dorr. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Those 17 points gave Dorr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tara Marks, who put up five points and seven steals.

Calumet Christian's record now sits at 10-1. As for Mid-Missouri HomeSchool, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Calumet Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 34-29 victory against Arthur-Okaw Christian on the 28th. As for Mid-Missouri HomeSchool, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Applewood Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 16, 2025.
