Baseball Game Preview: Morenci Wildcats vs. Tombstone Yellow Jackets

For the first time this season, Morenci will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Tombstone Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Morenci came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-2 to Santa Cruz Valley. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Morenci saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryant Figueroa, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Figueroa has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tombstone got the win against Desert Christian on Friday by a conclusive 16-2. The contest marked the Yellow Jackets' most dominant victory of the season.

Tombstone pushed their record up to 10-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Morenci, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
