Softball Preview: King Panthers vs. Summer Creek Bulldogs
King is 0-10 against Summer Creek since March of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. King's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Summer Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While King's win against Goose Creek Memorial wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Summer Creek faced Atascocita in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Torie Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Maciel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
King's record now sits at 16-9-1. As for Summer Creek, their record is now 20-4.
