Softball Recap: New Waverly Drops Season-High Score on BVCHEA Homeschool

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Waverly). Everything went their way against the BVCHEA HomeSchool Mustangs on Monday as the New Waverly Bulldogs made off with an 18-2 win. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly 16 runs.

The team relied heavily on Kadyn Fortune, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaelynn Stewart was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

New Waverly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as BVCHEA HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .385.

New Waverly is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. BVCHEA HomeSchool is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Waverly will take on Trinity at 5:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for BVCHEA HomeSchool, they will challenge Thrall at 6:30 p.m. on March 18th.
