Football Recap: Marble Falls Takes a Loss

After flying high against Brackenridge last Friday, Marble Falls came back down to earth. The Mustangs were outmatched by the La Vernia Bears and fell 63-21. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

Although Marble Falls took the loss, they still got scores from Diego Aguilar, Doak Timmerman, and Joaquin Aguilar.

La Vernia was led to victory by COOPER NULL and TY CARTER. NULL rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while CARTER rushed for 187 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. NULL's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Marble Falls now has a losing record of 2-3. As for La Vernia, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Marble Falls will take on Devine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Warhorses / Arabians at the right time seeing as the Warhorses / Arabians are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for La Vernia, after each having a week off, they and Calhoun will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The contest will give the Bears their first taste of in-conference action this season.
