Softball Game Preview: Hereford Whitefaces vs. Dumas Demons

Hereford hasn't had much luck against Dumas recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Hereford will head out to challenge Dumas at 4:30 p.m. Hereford has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hereford came up short against Randall on Tuesday, falling 11-2.

Hereford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lia Gaytan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Gaytan has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Dumas came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Harvesters get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Demons have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dumas pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Hereford, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Hereford might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Dumas in their previous matchup on March 5th. Can Hereford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
