Baseball Recap: John Jay Beats Mahopac for Their Fourth Straight Victory

John Jay lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mahopac, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Patriots blew past the Wolf Pac 14-1 on Monday. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Spencer Natoli looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, John Jay let Alex Jendras and Shane Driscoll run wild. Jendras scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Driscoll scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Driscoll a new career-high in RBI (three). Lucas Perillo was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

John Jay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win keeps John Jay at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for Mahopac, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Jay will head out to challenge Suffern at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mahopac, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hendrick Hudson at 12:00 p.m. on the 26th.
