Baseball Recap: Haxtun Comes Up Short

After flying high against Akron on Saturday, Haxtun came back down to earth. The Ftng Bulldogs fell just short of the Wray Eagles by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ftng Bulldogs of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Coleman Firme was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Corbin Andersen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Haxtun's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Wray, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haxtun will face off against Wiggins at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Ftng Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wray, they will challenge Caliche at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
