Volleyball Game Preview: Cardinal Spellman Cardinals vs. St. Mary's Spartans

Cardinal Spellman is 9-1 against St. Mary since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cardinals will welcome the Spartans at 5:15 p.m. Cardinal Spellman will be strutting in after a victory while St. Mary's will be coming in after a defeat.

Cardinal Spellman extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Lily Carey. The Cardinals walked away with a 3-1 win over Archbishop Williams on Thursday thanks in part to Carey, who had 12 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played.

Cardinal Spellman walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Arlington Catholic.

St. Mary's was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Arlington Catholic work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-17, 25-17.

Cardinal Spellman's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Cardinal Spellman took their victory against St. Mary's when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
