Softball Recap: Fort Chiswell Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Fort Chiswell came out on top against George Wythe on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Maroons with a sharp 6-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Pioneers have posted against the Maroons since March 22, 2022.

Blair Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Lilly Goforth was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Annalees Kuehl, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Fort Chiswell has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for George Wythe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
