Volleyball Recap: Meredith Hindbaugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitko over Rochester

After flying high against Northfield on Tuesday, Whitko came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Rochester Zebras by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Zebras apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Whitko sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-11, 24-26, 15-13.

Whitko's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Hindbaugh, who had 13 kills, 11 digs, three aces, and one block. Hindbaugh has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Watmough, who had 13 digs, five kills, three aces, and one block.

Rilyn Strasser was a one-woman wrecking crew For Rochester. as she had 11 digs and five aces. That's the most digs Strasser has posted since back in September.

Whitko now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Rochester, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15 record this season.

Whitko has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against South Bend Riley on the 11th. As for Rochester, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Twin Lakes on the 11th.
